Divine Service: Post-Communion

After receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus, the pastor speaks a prayer of thanksgiving.

There was a great flood.  Noah and his family were saved in the Ark.

We have been baptized into Christ. Through Baptism we are safe under the protection of God, our heavenly Father.

After Noah left the ark, God pointed to the rainbow as His sign of peace and protection.

When we believers meet on the Lord’s Day as the Body of Christ, we continue the human life of our Lord and relive the wonderful things which He did for us.

The Holy Communion is God’s rainbow to us, assuring us of His peace and protection.

“The Little Service Book” was written by the Rev. Berthold von Schenk (1895-1974), pastor of Our Saviour—New York, as an explanation of the Common Service for children.
